Hometour: a boho chic interior style in a small house

Meet Annegie: crazy about interior styling ánd photography. She’s living in Rotterdam and inspires many others with her distinctly Boho chic decor. Can't get enough of this style? Take a peek inside Annegie’s home and get inspired by her crazy interior!

Small is beautiful

Small is beautiful

Ask Annegie about her hometown and the first thing she says is: 'I've lived in Rotterdam North my whole life. I grew up here and I also think it’s the best neighbourhood to live in.' It is no coincidence that she now lives in Rotterdam in a modestly-sized home of about 60m2. ‘This space is big enough for me on my own. I also like to show how if you have a small house you can still do a lot with your interior, which means that you don’t have to feel limited. My house has a high ceiling, which makes it look a lot more spacious,' says Annegie.

Gold is always a good idea

Gold is always a good idea

Does she follow any specific style? Not really. Annegie mainly buys what she likes and luckily this always creates a lovely combination. ‘I think my biggest secret is the use of colour. Colour is very connective. In any case, I like a warm colour palette with a mix of vintage, Boho and quite a bit of chic. That’s why I can't get enough of gold accents at home.' In addition to her love for interior styling and photography, Annegie loves nothing more than travelling around the world. You can see this reflected in her interior: 'To make my interior personal, I love bringing home accessories from abroad. For example, I brought a bedspread, pillows and an ottoman from Morocco and a shell necklace from Bali. This also makes your interior way more unique.’

The perfect match

The perfect match

To complement all her vintage treasures, she also has an IXXI in her home. She chose a graphic illustration of Sacrée Frangine: Coussi Cousine. 'The IXXI perfectly matches my interior in terms of colours. I think this is one of the most essential things and it’s always the first thing I look at. In addition, I think it suits me because it adds a slightly ethnic touch.' And what about the result? 'I was able to specify the size of the IXXI myself, which means that it fits perfectly on the wall above the cupboard. Because of this large size, I can actually emphasise the high walls really well.'
